365 Days on...

I have counted 365 days without you. When will this pain end? I miss you every day and dream of you every night. I miss your gentle nature; your kind words and just staring at you in admiration. If I could be even half the human that you were... Until we meet again, love of my life

The people of Rwanda have spoken once again. Presidential elections were held on 4 August 2017 where Paul Kagame was re-elected to a third seven-year term with almost 99% of the vote. I have read all sorts of opinions on President Kagame’s governance and his dictatorship in the media. It seems we all know what’s good for Rwandan people except themselves. Voter turn out and election results beg to differ. He is exactly what the Rwandan people ordered. Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. The land of proud Rwandan people; volcanoes and gorillas. I first heard of Rwanda in 1994 at the height of the genocide. I was too young to understand at the time but I had too many questions. Why were people of the same colour murdering each other? I asked my dad and he likened it to the battle between IFP vs. ANC in 1993 but on a larger scale. I remember asking him: Do they have a leader like we do Mandela, one they’ll listen to? You call it Reconciliation Day, I call it Blood River Day: Impi yase Ncome. South Africans are so obsessed with reconciliation, Goodbye Rest In Peace to our history. Shaka Day Braai Day; June 16 Youth Month. Go on with your bad selves. Shaka Day, 24 September used to be a day of recollection and remembrance by the people of KwaZulu. It was a day to remember the King Shaka  a leader and warrior. However, in the prevailing spirit of reconciliation or selling out during the Codesa negotiations, we gave birth to Heritage Day – a day during which all South Africans, irrespective of colour or creed, would together celebrate their heritage. What the hell??!!! April 2017, Roadtrip with First Lady Agenda: Funeral and Battlefield route tour This came totally unplanned. One cannot plan a funeral.  I was not well when the news came but I could not miss THIS funeral. It was the funeral of a special person to someone I love very much. I decided on a roadtrip and asked my dearest to

Noz and I were relieved upon learning that some of the girls at the Red light district are cross dressers (Please don’t kill me if I used this word incorrectly). We were secretly jealous when we saw their thighs and well-toned bodies. Those bodies are the reason we seldom eat pasta and we squat until profanity escapes our lips. Ok you get where I’m going with this.  Rewind…. Spring in Europe 2017 : Trench coats; gloves and boots Destination : Netherlands and Greece Agenda:   A chance to escape all the professional and personal titles and be a random human being with no responsibilities apart from being alive and have a credit card and passport?                                                                                                    YES PLEASE!!! Destination1: Amsterdam . The land of tulips; beautiful architecture; canals; bicycles; legal weed smoking and prostitution. As amaXhosa would say: KwaJuliwe.
